Headteacher's Welcome:

Thank you so much for your interest in finding out more about our schools in The Woodland’s Federation.

The Woodland’s Federation was founded in 2014 and is comprised of two small rural first schools- Talbot First School, Kingstone and St Peter’s (VC) C of E First School, Marchington.

We are small schools with a big heart and an even bigger ambition for all. Both schools are committed to provide a rich and creative educational experience to ensure that all of the children in our care reach the very best of their potential in all aspects of their social, emotional and academic learning.

Our caring and nurturing school ethos contributes to a safe and stimulating learning environment that enables our happy and kind pupils to thrive. We aim to deliver a forward-looking, diverse and challenging curriculum to provide children with the education, skills and attitudes they will need to succeed in the 21st century. The use of Forest School, outdoor learning and quality educational visits allows us to enrich the curriculum giving our pupils real experiences to enhance their understanding of the topics they are learning and the skills they are developing.

We strive to be at the very heart of our local, rural communities, working closely with our families and friends of the school to further develop our pupils’ understanding of the wider world.

I am incredibly proud to lead a team of talented, creative and dedicated staff who open our pupils’ eyes to the amazing world of possibilities around them.

We would love to invite you in to experience our schools as words cannot adequately describe the very special, family feel that each school embodies.

If you would like to visit one, or both, of our schools, you can contact the school office by calling either 01283 820252 (St. Peter’s) or 01889 500273 (Talbot) to arrange a visit.

Thank you once again for your interest in our schools and I look forward to meeting you to tell you more about our fantastic schools and show you around the school sites.

Our Christian Vision for the School

St Peter’s First School is a happy and thriving Christian community in which we are all committed to helping our pupils learn through an inspiring, broad and engaging curriculum in which everyone is valued and nurtured within our core Christian values.

Our fundamental aim is to put God’s love and teaching at the heart of all we do in order to achieve our best and enable the children to reach their highest potential and become independent, life-long learners and achievers through Christ.

Our Core Values

LOVE  FAITH  PEACE  SERVICE  JUSTICE  JOY  GRACE

Each week we have a value of the week which we focus on in our Collective Worship sessions and in our classes, the staff look out for a child who has shown this value throughout the week. The child chosen in each class is then awarded a values certificate.
