At St Peter's, we have adopted a practical and adaptable combination of clothing which is flexible and easily looked after. Items with the school badge do not have to be worn (unless this is your preference) and most items can be purchased from regular retailers (e.g. supermarkets). It is important that children should be appropriately and smartly dressed for school and that each item is marked with the child’s name.
Our school uniform consists of:
- a red sweatshirt or cardigan
- a white polo-shirt
- grey/charcoal trousers, skirt or pinafore dress
- grey or white socks
There are a few slight changes for summer and winter which are detailed below:
- summer months - chequered red and white summer dresses may be worn or grey/charcoal smart shorts and white socks
- winter months - a grey/charcoal dress can be worn with grey tights
If you wish to purchase uniform with the school logo on can be purchased from Brigade Schoolwear here. When ordering uniform from Brigade, there is no minimum order fee.
School shoes should be plain and dark in colour with a fastening appropriate to the age/development of your child and provide adequate protection for your child’s feet.
For P.E in the warmer months:
- a white t-shirt
- black shorts
- black trainers or pumps (again with an appropriate fastening to the age/development of your child)
- please DO NOT send your child with branded P.E uniform
For P.E in the colder months:
- a white t-shirt
- black hoody (alternatively children can wear their school jumper)
- black tracksuit bottoms
- black trainers or pumps (again with an appropriate fastening to the age/development of your child)
- please DO NOT send your child with branded P.E uniform
Haircuts and accessories
The school discourages haircuts that could serve as a distraction to other children e.g. symbols shaved into the hair, inappropriate hair colours, Mohican hair styles. Hair which is long enough to impair vision should be tied back at all times. This will also help reduce the possible spread of head lice. Children should only wear simple hair accessories such as plain bobbles, scrunchies, clips and hairbands.
Nail varnish and skin transfers/temporary tattoos
We want all pupils to look smart and to take pride in their appearance. The school discourages the wearing of nail varnish or skin transfers/temporary tattoos during school hours.
Jewellery
Only the wearing of stud earrings and a watch is acceptable in school. Earrings must be removed on P.E days before they come to school if the child cannot take them by themselves. School staff are not legally allowed to remove earrings.
