Our Governors

Meet the Governing Board

Ex-Officio Governor

The Head teacher of the schools sits on our Governing Board as a governor. They are referred to as an ex-officio governor. This means that they will remain a governor for as long as they are employed in the role as head teacher.

LA appointed Governors

Governors who are Board Appointed are appointed by the local authority. Their term of office is four years. At The Woodlands Federation the governance structure allows for one LA governor.

Parent Governors

Parent Governors are elected by the parents/guardians of the children who attend the Woodlands Federation. When a parent governor vacancy occurs, nominations are requested from all registered parents and guardians and an election takes place. Their term of office is four years. At The Woodlands Federation the governance structure allows for two parent governors and we always aim to have a representation from each school.

Staff Governor

The Staff Governor is elected by the staff based at The Woodlands Federation. When a staff governor vacancy occurs, nominations are requested from all members of staff and an election takes place. Their term of office is four years. At The woodlands federation the governance structure allows for one staff governor.

Co-opted Governors

At The Woodlands Federation, the governance structure allows for the governors listed above to co-opt to six further governors to the governing body in order to bring a specific skill set that will add value to the academy, making governance even more efficient and effective. Co-opted governors have a term of office of four years.

The governors can be contacted at governors@woodlandsfederation.staffs.sch.uk

Minutes of our governor meetings can be requested from governors@woodlandsfederation.staffs.sch.uk  and a paper copy is available for viewing at the school office.

I have been a secondary science teacher since 2008 and have a lot of experience working in educational settings. I moved to the Uttoxeter area in 2019 and love working with the federation and ensuring that the pupils at out schools get the very best of their time in their first school. In my personal life I enjoy being outdoors and love playing hockey at the weekends.

I am a Chartered engineer working in Derby and live in Marchington with my wife and two children. I have been involved with the Governing board for a number of years. I am a keen supporter of promoting STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths) subjects and events, including securing funding for LEGO coding resources and entrants into the Junior First league global competition which both schools Year 3-4 have had the inspiring experience in the past... more inspiring events planned to bring extra resources and opportunities to the children's education experience.

I work in HR within the Civil Service and I am lucky enough to currently be working from home. I live in Kingstone with my family. I’ve wanted to do something to support the school given I benefited from starting my education there (many years ago!) The Governors seems like the perfect fit, that I could commit to alongside work and family life.
